This was simply added to the ebay image to keep others from copying without permission. An incredibly detailed view of the SS CITY OF NEW YORK. I am not sure of the location, but there is a NESTLE chocolate factory at back right. (see close-up photo) The SS City of New York is most famous for the near-collision in Southampton on April 10th, 1912. The SS New York, tied to the RMS Oceanic, drifted off and almost hit the stern of the RMS Titanic as she was leaving on her maiden voyage. The tugboat Vulcan pulled the New York away. The photo dates to pre-1901, as that was when the New York's three raked funnels were replaced with two taller ones. Measures 5" by 2" Photographed over a dark background. As it is not a negative, no light box was used. Displays well, with no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. Guaranteed to be antique, and not a copy or reproduction.
