Description: 1890 medal from the Sugar Palace Exposition, Grand Island, Nebraska. The Sugar Palace was erected to commemorate the birth of the state's sugar beet industry. The Palace was patterned after the Sioux City Corn Palace. An opening ball that included factory workers was held at the Sugar Palace in August of 1890. This medal is listed in Rulau GRN 11 G/S. Rare in this condition.
