Published by The Century Company The Moonstone is an early example of the modern detective novel and established many of the ground rules for the genre. T. S. Eliot described it as “the first and greatest of English detective novels". This 120 year old book is in overall fair condition for its age: • Cover: marks and wear/fraying at edges and corners (curled corners) • Spine: marks and wear/fraying at ends. Heavy wear around title (difficult to read) • Pages: age marks/brown spots, folded corners and small tears. Small holes scattered throughout (see pics for examples). Most pages are fairly clean. • Edges: age marks and darkening.
