Description: This auction is for one 5 cent hexagonal token, made of brass, from the Utah State Prison. "Good for 5 cents in trade" at the inmate store. These tokens were from the old Sugarhouse Prison, where the federal government imprisoned the polygamists of the Mormon Church, now the site of Sugarhouse Park. Later time period when the inmates began gambling with the tokens, officials confiscated and discontinued their use. Excellent condition. The set consists of 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, and $1.00 sizes from the old prison. The prison has been gone for many years. There are other tokens from the new prison that are dated and have A and B letters on them. 2 coupon booklets that have $5.00 worth of ticket type coupons that were used in the early 40's and 50's.
