6 Regency Style Klismos Dining Chairs, Refinished, Reglued & Reupholstered; 1950

Description: Elegant set of six mid-20th century Regency “Klismos” inspired dining chairs. Professionally stripped, re-glued and refinished in the same medium mahogany red tone that was common in the 1940s and ‘50s. The back has a beautifully rolled profile, with a convex curved crest. The x-form and lower support follow the this shape exactly, which make the chair striking when viewed from any angle. It also makes for a comfortable sit, which is not always the case when considering a period-style chair. These are a smaller scale chair when compared with most modern dining chairs, which makes them ideal for a dining area where space is at a premium.Solid oak corner blocks reinforce the chairs’ structure on the underside. The upholstery and padding sit on a solid board that also adds to the chairs’ rigidity. The fabric is a cotton or cotton blend in a variegated stripe - in exceptional condition. We went over each seat carefully, and only found one small smudge in an area where it is not very visible. From a spectacular, professionally decorated Chicago townhome. No smoking, no pets. Dimensions: the chairs measure 32.5” tall. They are 17.5” wide at the crest, and the backrest narrows to 13” where it meets the seat.
