Description: PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS OR PURCHASING THIS ITEM. Up for sale is this 1986 Kramer American Pacer Imperial Guitar in a Gloss black factory finish. This guitar is in amazing condition considering it’s 37 + years old. Guitar weighs 7 lbs. & 11 ounces as is. It looks as if a previous owner at some point added the Copper shielding to the electrical cavity. The serial number on the neck plate is “E” series four digits ( E 6252 ) This is a early E series guitar. The headstock has a few nicks in the finish but nothing major and all from normal use over the last 37+ years. See pics. There are some small dimples down the back of the neck but would not be noticeable if you sanded the back of the neck however the original finish or coating is still on the back of the neck so you can feel them ever so slightly but really not to noticeable while playing the guitar I just wanted to point them out. There also seems to be a rough finish on the back of neck by the neck pocket area. Also is some darkening of the maple along the back of the neck as well which is very common for these older Kramer guitars from the 80’s. Also so kind of scratch on the treble side of the neck by the neck pocket which is pictured. I tested the truss rod and it functions as it should. The frets are in great shape and have plenty of life left in them. There are no indentations in the frets that I can see. Neck is straight and plays great. This guitar looks to be all original as far as I can tell. From the Black Schaller tuners, Schaller strap lock buttons, wrench holder, German made Floyd Rose & Locking nut, to the early made JBJ & JNJ Seymour Duncan pickups. However I’m not the original owner of this guitar. I purchased this guitar used many years ago and I’ve pretty much just changed strings on it over the years and played it in my studio. From time to time. It’s been sitting in a case in my collection for the past 15 years or longer and has seen very little play. It’s time to let it go to a good hone where it will get the attention it deserves as a guitar if this caliber needs to be played to be appreciated. I have pulled the pickups to see what the pickups are. As you can see from the pics provided that these are all stock to the guitar. The bridge pickup is the Seymour Duncan JBJ Bridge humbucker pickup and the neck pickup is the matching Seymour Duncan JNJ Neck pickup. Both of these pickups were wound by Maricela Juarez. The last letter of the JBJ and the JNJ is the initials of the person who wound the pickups. The first two letters are the pickup designation as JB - Jeff Beck Bridge and JN - Jazz Neck. The neck pickup ring has a piece missing on the treble side (see pic), but it still holds a screw so not a issue as far a functionality goes. Except for the black knobs which I put on all the other hardware looks to be original to the guitar. I replaced the knobs with ones that have a white marker dot as the original knobs were all black and was very difficult see where the knobs were set to. I no longer have the original knobs. Not sure what I did with them but I know I don’t have them now. The Schaller Tuners, early German made Floyd Rose Bridge, locking nut, etc. look to be Al original to the guitar. The neck plate serial number is a “E” series cast neck plate. Four digits ( E 6252). There is some slight flaking of the chrome that has occurred on the neck plate but it seems to be fine now. This is pretty common from these cast neck plates from this area hence why they switched to the back cast plates in late 87-88 time frame for the F series plates and beyond up until the demise of the company in 1990. The neck plate is still in amazing shape considering it’s age. The bridge and arm both look to be in great shape for their age. There is some surface rust on the locking screws on the bridge and the locking nut but that’s an easy remedy with some 3 in 1 oil. There are two screws missing that hold the rear electronic cavity cover plate. The finish on this guitar has only a couple very tiny nicks or dings in the finish but nothing major at all. Most of them are on the sides of the guitar and can’t be seen unless you put a light on them. There is a very tiny ding on the face of the guitar just above the bass side of the bridge. (See Pic) There are are a couple along the sides and back of the guitar but again noting that major and are very difficult to see. The other is a very tiny chip in the finish that exposed the wood which is along the top of the guitar. However there is a black spot under the bridge of the guitar that I just noticed only now after owning the this guitar so many years. I only noticed it when I removed the bridge. It’s not noticeable with the bridge installed so I never notice it til now when I removed the bridge to pull the pickups to document them. Not sure it was from the factory or not as there seems to be a small section of the body routed to the wood where the trem arm collar is located . This may have been done at the factory as I’ve seen this on many of these older Kramer guitars from this era. As far as the flat black spot I’m not sure. Though it is not visible when the bridge is installed and it doesn’t affect the functionality of the guitar in any way. I just wanted to point it out. I’ve also tried to capture it in the pics provided. Ask for pics if you need to see anything else. The finish on this guitar is in great condition otherwise. Especially considering that this guitar is over 37 years old. See the pictures and judge for yourself. I have a ton of pictures of this but eBay will only allow 24 pics to be added to the listing so if you need to see anything specific please let me know and I’ll send you what ever pics I have of what you are requesting to see. The Seymour Duncan bridge and neck pickups sound awesome and get very nice and hot with distortion and clean up very nicely without distortion. These pickups are the highly sought after. The JBJ (Bridge) and the JNJ (Neck) pickups were wound by the infamous Maricela Juarez, who now heads up the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop. These pickups are very desirable and sought after and this is the matched set she wound back in 85-86 time frame. This vintage pickup set alone goes for over $300 if you can find a set for sale. The original screw in style Trem arm is included along with a used hardshell case that has some condition issues but will protect the guitar for shipping and should work for protecting the guitar for storage as it has done in my collection. I have the guitar set up with low action at the moment and it shreds as you would expect. However as with any guitar, you may want to have the guitar professionally set up to your liking but the guitar plays and sounds great as is. I will be loosening the strings for shipping to relieve the tension off the neck for added security to protect the guitar during shipping. So you will want to more than likely put a new set of strings on it or at the least just tune it back up to play it. The strings on it are pretty old and certainly could use replacing. I will be listing a lot more Guitars from my personal collection in the next coming weeks and months so please save me in your favorite sellers and check back often for new listings as I post them.
