The piece is fully hallmarked, with a Birmingham assay mark, an 1894 date mark, and a 9 and .375 purity marks. The inside of the pin is stamped 9 and .375 as well. The piece also has a D & F maker's mark, for Deakin & Francis, an English jewellery maker since 1786. The brooch has a safety closure in good working order.
