I've had this book for decades, and it was well-cared for, stored away virtually undisturbed in all that time. Before offering it for sale, I carefully took the time to eyeball each page to make sure there was nothing obvious hiding in there that might otherwise be missed. Here is the generally-accepted description of a FN comic book (as you can find on multiple online grading websites): FINE (FN): An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose. (I include this description so you can refer to it while following along with my observations below.) This book is flat and still retains a good amount of its original shine. It is very smooth to the touch -- you'll find next to no cover wrinkling here! As you can see from the photos, "minor" is indeed the operative word here to describe the wear here, having just a small amount at the extreme edges (and that all-black background only helps to show that this is indeed minimal). Only the bottom-right corner really has much in the way of color-breaks at all -- that corner having folded over at some point and later straighted out -- all very smooth now though. Corners show minor blunting, and I see no smudge marks on the front even after holding the book up to the light. No printing defects are observed, and as for "inked arrival dates," you can the little "12" written in the CCA box, presumably to note the day of arrival at the store. Spine shows that the book has been read before, but clearly very gently, leaving behind only mimimal wear and a few light spine ticks. Absolutely no spine roll, no tears, no splits, no discolored or rusty staples, both of which look good and do indeed go all the way through to the centerfold. Clearly better than your average mid-grade copy. Back cover clearly not as white as it must have been a half-century ago. I don't see any folds or creases, but small 3/8" tear at the bottom edge (visible in photos, and it's more like a slit than a tear -- not ragged at all) -- even that is almost smooth though. I also note some light smudges when I hold the book up to the light (mostly concentrated in the left paragraph where it say "people who like to draw"), so not as clean as the front, though they're faint enough that they don't show much in the photos. Only minimal surface build-up and no foxing. And it even has a bit of shine left to it. Inner covers show some of that Silver Age tanning that is so common of books from this era, but are clean. And the pages are no worse than cream-colored, leaning toward off-white -- certainly better than the "tan to brown" allowed -- they all looked good when I carefully leafed through the book with no sign of brittleness, and everything seems well attached -- nothing loose. Bottom line is that this book nails the criteria above for a straight-up FN copy and exceeds them in many categories. It might have qualified for FN/VF, but I decided the rear smudges and little "12" mark prevented it from elevating that high, so I went down the middle. No one could dispute that this is mid- to upper-mid-grade, so if you're looking for a solid, even if not spectacular copy, then this one might work for you. You won't get this level of detailed evaluation and camera angles anywhere else -- look at my feedback and you'll see "item as described" posted over and over again! I cannot believe other sellers expect you to make a purchase decision with just one or two photos -- ridiculous -- you always see what you're getting from me!
