Description: This auction is for a Scarce American Historical Staffordshire Plate, "CITY HALL NEW YORK", John & William Ridgway, Hanley, England, c. 1814 - 1830. The blue and white transfer features a border of repetitive rose and leaf medallions. In the center of the plate is New York’s City Hall. The building is Renaissance in style, three stories high with a central portico and columns. The dome has pairs of Corinthian pilasters around it. There are two feathery-leaved trees framing the building on the left and trees with bushes in front of the building on the right. A family of a man, woman and child is in the foreground. This plate is valued at $250 to $350. On the reverse of the plate it is marked, "BEAUTIES OF AMERICA - CITY HALL NEW YORK - J & W RIDWAY." I offer this plate with a "Buy It Now" for less than half of those prices! DIMENSIONS: The plate is 7/8" H. x 9 3/4" Dia.. CONDITION: The condition is good with a blob of extra blue transfer at one point of the rim. There are also a couple of chips to the foot rim and a tight stained hairline near these two chips.
