HE WAS A MONASTIC FOUNDER AND REFORMER, AND A SPIRITUAL LEADER OF MEDIEVAL RUSSIA. SAINT NATALIA, MARTYR OF NICOMEDIA, WAS THE WIFE OF SAINT ADRIAN. IN THE 4th CENTURY, AFTER HER HUSBAND, A MEMBER OF THE PRAETORIAN HERCULIAN GUARD OF EMPEROR GALERIUS MAXIMIAN, WAS PUT TO DEATH FOR CONVERTING TO CHRISTIANITY, SHE BECAME A BLOODLESS MARTYR, SUCCUMBING TO SPIRITUAL HEART SUFFERING.
