Their knives manufactured with the finest steel and design earned a good reputation for quality and wildly accepted by American consumers. In 1840s, John Russell introduced the legendary "Green River Works Knife" and it became an instant success. This knife is constructed from the Green River region in Massachusetts using the Nogent-style process ( blade and rat-tail tang are forged from a single piece of steel and fitted with a handle ). It has the blade hand forged from the fine carbon steel and tempered to achieve greater toughness providing the long-lasting keen edge cut-ability. The tang is fitted with the stag to good fitting for durability, strength, & balance. Very faded trademark logo ( photo 3 ). It is John Russell - GRW. ** JOHN RUSSELL Green River Works --- ca.
