Description: Preowned, antique mid-Victorian era cockade accordion fan with silver metal handles. This cockade fan is circular and folds with two handles that opens up to 360 degrees around a central pivot. This style of fan was popular throughout the 19th century. This particular fan is made from oil cloth, with aluminum handles. The oil cloth has faded in color but appears to originally been a shade of burgundy. Pictures are provided to show how the color varies based on the lighting and positioning. The oil cloth is slightly frayed at the ends, and has creases, as expected for a piece this age but overall the fan is preserved very well. Best suited as a collectible decor item but still functions. Handles measure 8.5” long, fan fully opened measures 9" across. The end has a metal loop to keep the handles together.
