Description: Gorgeous antique French marriage globe de mariee c1800's. This stunning piece would have originally been presented to a newly married French couple as a special presentation to preserve and display the brides wax wedding crown. The gold ormolu decorations used have special meanings. For example the maple leaves are symbolic of love and unity. The antique glass dome is in very good condition as is the velvet display cushion. The bridal crown that it displays is in good condition with some age related discoloration. The gold ormolu bird and leaves that surround the cushion also show some age related discoloration to the surface finish. The wood base shows some very minor signs of surface wear and one of the feet on the base has been replaced. The dome measures 19" in height,12" in width and 6" in depth. The display cushion measures 14" in height and 10" in width.
