Description: I am listing 6 antique maid's aprons, collected over the years from local estate auctions. This is an antique probably pre-1920, as it is made of cotton dimity, an old fashioned fabric, and it is longer in length. The fabric has the raised self-stripe pattern of dimity and is nicely white. The top of the skirt is sewn slightly gathered onto the waistband, and there are side ties to tie together in back. All around the skirt edge there is a pretty lace ruffle and there is a patch pocket on the left side. The skirt measures 14" across at the waistband, 27" wide at the hem, and 24" long in the center. I have laundered and pressed this and found the fabric to be in sound condition, soft and strong and not brittle. This is handmade; the side ties are not the same length, as shown. There are a few condition issues - a rust spot on the waistband and left tie, and a very faint tan area on the front, both of which are shown in the last two closeup photos. Still, it is a very good survival and a great example of a 1900s service apron. Please have a look at the others too!
