Description: Intriguing antique c19th century hand carved small wood totem/effigy/wall sculpture. A wonderful and old hand carved piece. I believe these are African in origin and date to about the 19th century however they could be much earlier and of a different culture, perhaps even pre Columbian? Quite worthy of further research. Provenance comes from a large collection of both African and pre Colombian art. Wonderful hand carved detail and a solid heavy block of wood for its size. Previous owner has affixed brass hang tab on verso with a flat head brass screw sometime ago. In Excellent antique condition with wonderful wear and rounded corners showing years and years of handling. Measures 14” x 3” and 2” thick.
