Description: This listing is for an Antique Seth Thomas Chime Clock Circa 1915 , with Time Movement numbered " 89AD " and " Made in U.S. America" together with Seth Tomas mark , marked as shown on back. Clean movement interior. Suggestion has been made that it is one of the Prospect series, Probably Prospect No. 9. "1915C" stamped on base as shown. About 12 1/2 inches tall , 8 13/16 inches by 4 5/8 inches at wooden base, 2273 grams total net weight with weight and key and the pictured pin , which Prevents the pendulum from swinging wildly when placed in place , protecting the clock. I am not sure if it should be left in place when in use but such has been suggested. With 4 brass legs as shown, , with white part of dial measuring 4 3/4 inches and overall 6 inches with its enclosure, glass cover as shown, with some yellowing of dial and hour arm with loss of paint as shown probably due to pulling of the hour arm back and forth. A kind soul provided this information: Inspect the inside floor for the clock, I expect you'll find a small hole where the long end of the pin should be inserted (left and slightly toward the rear panel opening of the clock for reference). The pin can remain in the hole permanently vs. laying on the inside floor. It's good that you have this frequently lost part of these old clocks. I still have to put pin in specified place and I guess from what suggested , it can stay in place. I will do so before shipment. Not sure of wood but finish is as shown with a small scuff at top as shown along with a couple of probably wall paint drips as shown. Brass movement with metal springs. Pictorial weight as shown. Two sided key as shown fits adjustment and winds for chime and clock movement springs. In excellent antique as shown condition. I have not been able to make it work . pendulum movement makes the gears move and though it stops after a few back and forth. The chime is fully wound and I have been able to make it chime by setting time to 12 o'clock ( chimes twelve times , but not checked for other chimes ( like at 15 , 30 and 45 minutes). It looks all together and I figure someone that knows this things should be easily able to service it and bring it back to fully functional state. This clock is not refinished. The back lock mechanism is fine as shown and the back opens and comes out. I am not sure if there needs to be any additional preparation for shipment , the weight, key , will be wrapped separately and enclosed securely in the back. I will place the pin on back as suggested before shipping If you have additional instructions that I need to consider when packing, please let me know so that I may properly package it for shipment for you.
