Description: Antique White Ironstone China Pitcher, Royal John Edwards, England, Lion Head Handle 12” This beautiful elegant style antique ironstone pitcher is adorned with a regal lion’s head at the peak of its handle, and with raised leaves. John Edwards (& Co) Manufacturer of china & earthenware at Longton & then Fenton, 1850 – 1900. This pitcher would fit in a modern home as well as a farmhouse in the country. White Ironstone pitcher would be perfect in any home. Its outline is simple, yet stylized. The Pitcher features a clean, bright, white glaze. This pitcher has a presence and it would be a standout in anyone's ironstone collection. Ironstone is not porcelain; it's a porous earthenware, made of clay mixed with feldspar. There is no iron in ironstone china. MOLD MARK: The pitcher’s base has a deep incised stamp that reads, "ROYAL", and a diamond shaped emblem with a initial “B”. To the right of it is a dark blue stamp that reads, " WARRANTED IRONSTONE CHINA JOHN EDWARDS TRADE MARK". CONDITION: In excellent condition. No chips, flakes, cracks or repairs. APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS: Beautiful Ironstone picture stands 12-1/2 inches tall and from spout to handle is 8 inches. Base measures 4-1/2”. Measures 23-1/2” around its widest area.
