Description: Here is an amazing vintage camel saddle which appears to have possibly really been used for riding camels due to the distressed state of the leather cushion. The cushion appears to be made of real leather (though I am not sure from which animal, possibly camel?) The cushion has a zipper on the underside. The leather covering on the cushion is very dried out and old, and pieces of it are flaking and falling off. It is quite distressed and weathered. One may appreciate these imperfections as they contribute to the character and history of the piece. There is a green cord holding some of the wooden structure together. This green cord appears to have been cut or broken in at least one spot, possibly more. I am not certain if the green cord is original to the piece or was added at a later date to help the piece maintain structural integrity. See pictures and video. The camel head (which I believe to be hand carved) is somewhat loose and can be easily jiggled. See pictures and video. The wood feels rather rough hewn and is held together by bolts/ pieces of metal with an aged look/ patina. This is an amazing conversation starter and unique décor item. This camel saddle could be used as a foot rest or simply as a display piece on a table or countertop. The hand-carved camel head sculpture really makes this camel saddle stand out from the others. This camel saddle would work very well in an eclectic, boho, or global themed interior space. Best to utilize this as a display piece rather than for actual camel riding. See pictures and video. I wondered if this piece might be an antique, though I am not sure about its age. I am not an expert on camel saddles. I believe this may have been made in Egypt, Morocco or Turkey, (or somewhere in the middle east, where camel riding is common,) but I could not locate a maker's mark so I am not positive about its country of origin. Measures approximately 24" L x 10" W x 18" H and weighs approximately 5.5 pounds. Measurements and weight are approximate as I do not have a precision scale for larger items and it was difficult to measure precisely due to its shape.
