This casting has been shot blasted with Stainless Steel media to match the OE Ford look and not change colors and rust, like other aftermarket manifolds that have been shot peened with iron media. Blue Thunder in their most current batch of castings has “MADE IN THE USA” cast into the bottom of the manifold. According to Blue Thunder they made this discussion because other well known “American Manufacturers” secretly switched to have castings made overseas in places like China, leaving customers pissed after receiving product and finding CHINA cast in the bottom of what they believed was an American product! The quality of foreign-made product is not acceptable to my customer base, so I can appreciate this decision! Every surface has been CNC machined to .0023 of an inch, so you don’t need to worry about proper fitment. Using precision proprietary cutters this manifold has smooth clean surfaces, you can take the manifold on and off while tuning; without destroying your gasket. Some important things that set this manifold apart from the others are: Port Matching and pressure testing. The port locations on this manifold are ready to put on your engine and run! As if using aircraft foundries wasn’t enough Blue Thunder takes extra steps to assure their quality by pressure testing the water jackets of every manifold, thus assuring the serious engine builder that they’re not waisting time and possibly going to tear the engine back down for a leak issue. This manifold is highly detailed, what you see in the picture is the same quality you will receive. We don't take pictures of items that are not representative of the piece you will receive. Other manufacturers use recycled casting materials, don’t pressure test, port match and use inferior cutters. We know, we use other aftermarket Big Block Ford manifolds when Blue Thunder is not available and I can tell you without a doubt; their manifolds are the best piece available. Commonly asked questions Question: Is this the only brand of manifold you carry, or do you sell other manufacturers manifolds? Answer: Because of the strict and high-quality manufacturing procedures Blue Thunder holds we now only offer the Blue Thunder manifold in our eBay store, though we do use other manifolds on occasion for specific engine builds. When we were offering other manufacturers manifolds we were compelled to pressure check the product before shipping due to the high amount of complaints. What we found is over 30% of other manifolds had some kind of leak (especially big block Ford FE intake manifold’s), and when you add up the fact it takes hours to properly pressure test a manifold and $94.00 to impregnate the leaking ones, we were spending almost $300.00 per manifold with transportation; and when someone else is offering “the same manifold” for $300.00 less it’s hard to explain. When all’s said and done we’d rather sell the better product, a product made by people who care about their reputation. Question: Do you stock this item, or is it going to be shipped to me from some third-party that I didn't purchase it from? The way Blue Thunder explains it to me, they wouldn’t have it any other way “the faster manufacturing go’s the more chance things get missed, and we’re not going to miss anything”! Part2) Blue Thunder only uses the finest materials and equipment available for their manufacturing. It starts when the manifold is cast from Aircraft certified foundries and finishes with their method of cleaning the casting before it’s packaged. You will not find embedded material on their product that will find its way into your engine oil, like so many others!
