Cable microphonic properties are important in audio systems because sound from the speakers can actually feed back into the sound system through the interconnecting cables. This feedback can produce undesirable audible effects ranging from subtle muddiness at moderate volumes all the way to feedback howl at extreme sound pressure levels.
