Description: GREAT BRITAIN – Sc #67 – 2½p – CLARET – PLATE #16 - USED – 1876Subject = Queen Victoria Sc # = 67 – Plate #16 Value = 2½p Color = Claret Date = 1876 Condition = Used Hinge Remnant = Yes Cancel = Typical for the era – However the central design feature is nearly totally missed by the cancel My Grade = Fine – The centering of this stamp is superior to the photo of a G.B. stamp in the grade of F-VF from this period shown on Page 18A of Scott’s “CLASSIC SPECIALIZED CATALOGUE OF STAMPS AND COVERS 1840 – 1940” you could say it was 98% of a VF it just is not there. Accounting for the cancel I am grading it Fine. Faults = NoneComment = Scott states the following:“Values are for unused and used stamps in this country are for examples with fresh color and all the attributes for a Fine-VF condition (unless specified otherwise) through 1900 (Sc #126).”
