Description: This auction is for the - KK4HXJ - Deluxe Eico 147 probe set This Set is specialized for the Eico 147/147A Signal Tracer (this probe also fits the 145A (but not 145) Includes 1 Audio Probe and 1 RF probe Audio Probe is a 36" Probe made from RG-174 Coax and terminated in 2 Genuine Johnson-Cinch Pin Tip Plugs - This same Audio Probe works for Eico 145/145A/147/147A/150 Models (I can build these with Banana Plugs if your unit has been converted to Bananas as was a fairly common modification - just message me at time of purchase) RF Probe is a 36" Probe made from RG-174 Coax and terminated in a Genuine Switchcraft 2501F Microphone Connector (I can also build the probe with a BNC Connector if your unit has been converted, which was also a common modification - just message me at time of purchase) - The probe has a 1N34A germanium diode (original is 1N48 but 1N34/60/270s all work well in this application) and 470K Ohm resistor installed - this probe is very slim compared to the originals but the coax shield is maintained right up to the base of the components - which is important to prevent interference The components inside the probes are readily accessible if you wish to replace the components for repair or just have a different preference (feedback has been excellent regarding the components I have selected) Both probes have the coax shield bonded to a 1/8" braided wire, which transitions to an insulated 12" piece of premium test lead wire and terminates in an alligator clip (refer to auction photos for details) - this labor intensive technique results in a longer lasting and safer probe as originally a 12' piece of uninsulated braid was used and I don't like 12" pieces of uninsulated metal around my work! Also the braid gets nasty over time. The unit is presented in a Labeled, Retail Quality, Reusable, 4 Mil Poly Ziplock Bag and is wrapped with a Reusable Velcro Strip to keep the leads organized and ready. This is hand assembled by me from components used in my popular Deluxe VTVM probe kits sold here on eBay (several hundred kits and assembled probes sold) using my methods and good attention to detail. The probes are labeled with printed laminated labels and then covered in a clear heat shrink band to prevent the label from peeling and to give a nice non-slip grip. I began to make these leads by special order and after adjusting the techniques and materials, I have produced an excellent substitute for the original probes. I am especially proud of the method of bonding the shield to the braided line in order to keep shielding intact all the way up to the components, as well as the transition to insulated test wire (vs. leaving uninsulated braid exposed) - both techniques are labor intensive but well worth it. There are a substantial number of componentss used in the construction of these probes as well as significant labor, which accounts for the cost, you could spend significant money and time trying to locate all of the necessary components.
