He's wearing a tan slouch hat with a large red band around it. He's carrying a 3-band British Enfield rifle with the bayonet attached. His tan haversack is on his left hip. He's wearing a tinned drum canteen uniquely used by Confederate soldiers. He's got on his right hip a brown cartridge box and a brown percussion cap pouch on his right front. He's wearing what appears to be a black English-made back pack. He's got on a small "CS" buckle on his belt. He has a dark blue blanket role over top of his soft-pack back pack. His pants are an infantry medium blue. His pants are tucked into the tops of his wool socks and he's wearing brown brogans. Tucking your pants into your socks is a way of lessening the amount of chiggers and ticks that will eat your legs up. Sucking on a match stick once a day also helped these soldiers since sulfur is a bug deterrent.
