French Ciel de lit Corona Antique French bed hanging furniture bed wood + fabri

This Antique French ciel de lit ( Corona ) was used for hanging bed curtains and other decoritve textiles above a bed or daybed . It is from France and dates from c 1900 ~ This is a heavy wooden piece, with wonderful silk, linen and cotton damask fabric, gold in tone with warm beige ground. The trim tassels are STUNNING too!~~ The decorative gold bands are hand carved . A fabulous piece. The inside of the corona , the underside visible from below uses a wonderful gold silk damask fabric with geometric design. This piece weighs about 8.5 pounds ~The top is a decorative metal piece but it looks like the shaft of this piece ( the part sticking into the corona is a replacement, as it looks newer to me. Its a very sympathetic addition, and looks stunning. This corona is dripping in trim!! I love the rope trim and tassels ~ This piece can be bolted to a wall and draperies can be hung , or it can simply hand exactly as is! Nothing short of wonderful! ~*~ Measurements : This corona measures 21 inches from front to back and about 23 inches from side to side. Its about 8 inches from the wooden surround to the top of the corona ( depth) Condition : The wooden structure is in lovely , antique condition indeed. There is some splitting and tearing on the lining fabric ( please see photographs) There is a hole in one of the festoons ( the drop part of the valance ) ~ the covering fabric has some marks and some small holes ~ ~ ideal for creative hands, this will be STUNNING any way its used!!
