Description: Galeries Lafayette I ♡ this grand Parisian Department Store on Boulevard Haussman. Yes, the shopping is fantastic, but Galeries Lafayette is so much more. The breathtaking, neo-Byzantine dome, which is 43m high, was conceived by glass artist Jacques Gruber and quickly became the symbol of Galeries Lafayette. Galeries Lafayette was officially inaugurated on October 1912. Théophile Bader dreamt of a ‘luxury bazaar’ where the abundant and luxurious merchandise made everyone turn to look around. With 96 different departments, a tea room, a reading room, a fumoir, and a terrace with one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Paris are incorporated to the building ... I'd say Bader nailed it! I crafted this Cyanotype Print as an homage to the spectacular building. I hand-coated 5x5 watercolor paper for this Cyanotype print. It is double matted in a gray frame (total size 10 x 10). A lovely gift for your favorite traveler, or an original artwork for your own collection. Cyanotype is a printing process dating back to the 1850s. I hand-coat surfaces with photosensitive chemicals; use my photography, convert to a digital negative, and sandwich the paper and negative, and expose with sunlight. Until we can travel again, let's breathe deep and dream of places we love. Thank you for visiting my shop. My unique photographic presentations make fantastic gifts, and beautiful art for you!
