“Health and Attainment through Cosmic Vibrations,” Llewellyn George, First Ed.

Description: This is a rare, vintage, first edition of Llewellyn George’s “Health and Attainment through Cosmic Vibration” (Portland, Oregon: Press of Astrological Bulletina., 1920).The book is written by the famous astrologer and founder of the Llewellyn Publishing Co and Portland School of Astrology. But by 1920, George was moving into New Age topics. “Health and Attainment through Cosmic Vibrations” represented his definitive work in this direction. In this book he is defining how cosmic vibrations could affect body, mind and, spirit. This book was published in Portland, before George moved to Los Angeles. His New Age writing did not achieve the same success as his astrological work, but he still seemed committed to it and this book was subsequently reprinted under the name of “Attainment through Cosmic Vibrations” in the 1940s. This, however, is the FIRST EDITION.It is softbound, separate cover, 128 pages (including ads for his astrological books). It is small – 4-1/2 in by 6. Cover is a dark brown. This book was of great interest to its original owner. There is underlining in pen in certain portions of the book, especially in “Progressive Attitudes” and “The Habit of Health” and a couple of notes as the reader reflected. Indeed, I thought these flaws actually added to the book since you can see how the reader appreciated the book back in the 1920s. I’ve taken pictures of some of the underlining. Binding is strong and tight, no pages missing no tears. See staining on covers in the pictures. I bought this in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, a suburb of Akron. I didn’t realize that Llewellyn George’s reach extended beyond the west coast. The book contains ads for George’s earlier books -- all published by Llewellyn Publishing. I think this may be one of the few books published by the Press of Astrological Bulletina. Subsequent editions of this work carry the Llewellyn Publishing Co. name. Please note the art nouveau designs that end the chapters. A portion of the proceeds of this book goes to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
