HENRY WALLACE 1948 CAMPAIGN JIM CROW MUST GO! CIVIL RIGHTS FOLD-OVER Rare

Description: One of the best - and rarest - Jim Crow Must Go items from the 1948 Henry Wallace presidential campaign in which Civil Rights was one of the key issues emphasized by Wallace. Civil Rights had a higher profile in 1948 than any campaign since the Civil War era. This particular example heralds from the archives of the famous J. Doyle Dewitt Collection that for decades was owned by the University of Hartford (until several years ago sold). I recently bought a collection of Wallace campaign items from the J Doyle Dewitt Collection that was highlighted by this piece. As a Civil Rights collector of course I would have kept this but it is a duplicate. I bought the first example at Hakes Americana Auction in March 2023 for $1259 (see screenshot). 4.25x5.25". Photo cover underscores the message inside: “A Negro Child Born This Day Has A Life Expectancy Ten Years Less Than That Of A White Child Born A Few Miles Away... I Say We Fight For Those Ten Extra Years". Federal Anti-Lynching, Anti-Poll Tax Laws, Elimination of Discrimination and Segregation and FEPC campaign promises on reverse. Powerful piece. Excellent to Mint condition.
