Description: This is a cup mute for a small bass trombone or very large tenor trombone. Made in USA by Humes & Berg. It's the classic sound since the 1930's. This fits a fairly small and rare list of small-ish bass trombones such as these: Conn 70H, 71H, 72H, 73H, 88HK, King 5B, all small throat models compared to Bach 50, Conn 62H, 112H, etc. If you have a modern horn, you can add thicker cork, but this mute is more for the vintage models. The 171 mute does not fit large bore tenor trombones like Bach 42, Conn 88H, King 4B, Yamaha 822O, etc. It's too large for those.
