Description: 0.5 Liter Pre-WW1 German Infantry Regimental Beer stein - porcelain, transfer & hand painted - crowned lion with shield thumblift, glass prism lid with scene & lithophane. Condition & Description: This is an authentic and striking Pre WW1 regimental beer stein. The body is in very good condition, some minor wear to base red trim & lines in base/litho (roster is strong) and the lid is excellent. Exactly as pictured! The lid is quite interesting, the prism lid sits atop a scene of infantrymen in uniform with their women. Finally, the body has a lot going on. The central image displays the symbols/emblem of the 19th and garrison Erlangen. On either side of the central scene are groups of soldiers in the field and in a town... The stein is named to Friedrich Rücker who served his time from 1902 to 1904. Just a few of the iconic and ever present phrases on this particular infantry regimental stein (and translated to English): "Behuet dich Gott, es waer so schoen gewesen" translates to "May God watch over you - it could have been so beautiful." "Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" translate to "In remembrance of my service time" "In treue fest." translates to "Ever faithful."
