Description: This is a small Japanese cloisonne dish from the Meiji period. It bears similarities to totai shippo pieces of the period, but I'm not sure if it's actually totai shippo. While it's heavier than I would expect for a metal piece of its size, and it has a duller ring when tapped than other cloisonne-on-brass pieces I have, it does have a brass ring around the rim, and no ceramic is visible. The enamel itself is dull and has a number of superficial scratches, except for a few lower spots where the enamel is quite shiny. It's decorated with lotus flowers and seed pods as well as other flowers. Size: 4.75" across. Perfect for your small display areas! Condition: On the front there are a number of superficial scratches, only really visible when the light hits at an angle. On the back are a few cracks or deep scratches around the rim. No enamel loss that I can see. The brass rim and some of the wires are lightly tarnished.
