This party barge was originally on a charm bracelet filled with huge and heavy 18k charms from all over the world. The woman who sold it to us said it was her mother's, but her mother never actually wore it (probably because she didn't want her arm to fall off) but just kept adding to it over the course of her many travels. Nicely detailed with decorative scoring, beaded trim on the boat's perimeter, and two tiny carnelian bead ornaments at the boat's stern and aft. The tear-shaped bale is nice and roomy with inside dimensions of approximately 10mm x 7mm. MEASUREMENTS: About 1-2" long from ferro to risso (in other words, from the decorative doo-dad jutting up at one end to the other decorative doo-dad at the other end). The height, not include the top ring or bale, is about 1/2". With the bale, the total drop is about 1-⅛." MARKS: The ring at the top is stamped “750” for 18K gold plus "69 VA," which is the Italian registration mark for Cassinera Albino, a goldsmith active in the 1950's, but dissolved by 1971. AGE: Cassinera Albino registered in 1953, and the style of the registration mark suggests this piece dates before 1968, so that narrows it down to sometime between 1953 and 1968. CONDITION: Very light surface scratches, and some minor bumps on the bottom (those canals are shallow!) but overall excellent condition for its age. All you need is a handsome gondolier! WEIGHT: 5.4 grams BEAD NECKLACE: We made a beaded necklace specifically for this boss boat. It's 24 inches of 6mm faceted black tourmaline (aka schorl) rondelles strung on red silk. Translucent carnelian button beads are stationed every 1-1/2". The clasp is a gold-filled, disc-shaped box clasp. Note that the chain is removable so you can mix and match. The chain weighs 30.1 grams, so the total necklace weigh is 35.5 grams.
