We utilized forensic sculpting and facial reconstruction techniques and applied them to archaeological photographs of known Viking skulls unearthed in Norway and Iceland in order to re-create Erikson’s skull. His skull features are characterized as a Nordic northern European male with angled forehead, deep-set eyes and a strong brow line with a high nasal bridge. The Vegvisir Norse Compass symbol appears on top of the skull. The Vegvísir (The WayFinder) is an Icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. The Vegvisir is laser engraved into the skull to ensure a precise and faithful reproduction of the symbol. The skull is adorned with the Urnes style motif the last phase of Viking art. It takes its name from the remarkable carved wooden doors of the Urnes Stave Church, Norway.
