The 2046 Type II has a reputation for solid performance due to its modified 4-8-4 boiler casting to a 4-6-4 Hudson and added four-wheel pilot and trailing trucks. This engine also features a smoke unit, operating headlight, ornamental bell, wire handrails three-position E-unit, and a detailed array of valve gear. These engines were accented by 2046W large streamlined tenders with amazing realistic sounding whistle. Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world!
