The Westward Journey nickels were minted to honor Lewis and Clark's journey. In 2004 the Peace Medal and Keelboat obverse designs were minted and in 2005 the Bison and Ocean In View were issued. The 1976 Bicentennial Series honors the Colonial drummer, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
