Once a year, the school children of Hatoma elementary and middle school, their parents, teachers and anyone who is involved in the community, collect the star sand to raise money for school activities by selling the sand. After they collected the sand, they spend a full month to wash the sand clean, dry it under the sun, then sort out the star-shaped sand.
