An adorable little doll dress hand made for your doll to wear to a doll's tea party. Overdress is a sweet snow white dotted swiss, very clear and clean and still nice and soft. The puffed short sleeves are trimmed at their edges with 3/4"W lace. Waist is high with cartridge pleating all around. Hem is rolled and has a rather rough appearance. It looks as though it had lace trim, but that was removed and not replaced. This has left tiny threads that can easily be pulled out, leaving the hem looking smoother. Central back closure with snaps that look more recent than the original date of the dress. The slip is plain and feels like silk. It has a scoop neckline and a central back closure with hooks and eyes which, once again, may be replacements, at least to the hook part. The eye part is a sewn-on half-loop of thread. Two darts are sewn down the front, one to each side, to smooth the fit and appearance. Dress measures from mid-shoulder to front hem 15 1/2"; shoulder range seam to seam 4 1/2"; high waist/chest 12"; sleeve length 3 7/8". Slip 15 1/2"L mid-shoulder to hem at front ~ gradually lengthens to another 3/4" at back; chest is just under 10" and is A-line on down to the hem. This ensemble came from a family in the capital district of NYS, and had been made by a grandmother, early mid-20th century. The two pieces may not have been made to go together, but the family said they were always together on a doll in the collection. They work very well together.
