Description: Can you imagine the talk around the dinner table when this magnificent cast of American and perhaps international literary Who's Who gathered for dinner conversation in 1916? In the midst of the First World War and America determining whether to enter the fray of not? I'm sure an equal blend of holiday cheer and concern filled the air. This was by all accounts, the finest menu I ever saw Thomas Sindelar create. Ornate renaissance style. Colorful and busy with wonderful detail given to the cast of characters as well as the bill of fare. I don't know if I take more pride in the original art menu itself, or in the family retaining it intact with the theme matching original frame it was displayed in at the Lotos Club that fine Jan. 8th, 1916. I did my best to capture the wonderful details of the art work as well as the frame. The art menu measures 22" x 14" with the embossed border for the artistic depiction at 19.5" x 11". The overall framing at the tallest and widest points is 27" x 20". Affectionately named "The Ace of Clubs" by charter member Samuel Clemens, the Lotos Club has served, entertained, honored, and been blessed with the membership of some of the world's greatest talents and world changers since its' formation in 1870. Truly one of the oldest and finest literary clubs in the nation. I will miss this one, but my living estate sale is all about sharing art and history appreciation with others now and for years to come. Arthur
