Description: Painted Maple, Acer truncatum mono (Acer pictum), Tree Seeds Hardy, Fast Growth, Fall Colors, Shade Tree, Street Tree, Cold and Urban Tolerant, Bonsai Painted Maple is a fast growing, deciduous tree that typically grows to 30 to 40 feet tall with a rounded spreading crown. It is native to forests in Japan, China, Korea, Mongolia and Eastern Russia. It sometimes grows in a shrubby form. Variable leaves, 3 to 6 inches long, have 5 to 7 triangular lobes. Leaves emerge with bronze tints in spring, mature to bright green by summer and turn attractive shades of yellow, orange and red in fall. Greenish-yellow flowers appear in April-May in upright clusters (umbels). As with most Maples, the flowers are not showy. Fruit is a samara 1 to 1.5 inches long. Leaf: 3 to 6 inch, opposite, simple leaves with 5 to 7 short triangular lobes. New leaves are bronze, bright green in summer and resistant to sunburn. Leaves turn bright gold and crimson in fall.Flower: Small, yellow-green flowers emerge with the leaves in April-May in upright clusters followed by winged samaras 1 to 1.5 inches long.
