Description: This is "A Narrative of the Campaign in Russia during the Year 1812" by Robert Ker Porter, in a presumed first edition published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown in 1814. This edition features an account of Napoleon's campaign in Russia, including an illustrative frontispiece (a portrait of Prince Koutousoff) and two color-coded fold-out maps of Napoleon's advance and retreat. This volume is bound in full leather, with faded gilt decorations and a red leather title band on the spine. Condition of this book is about Good, the leather worn at the corners and cracking on the spine. I believe the two maps were originally affixed to the rear internal hinge, but they have been re-attached at the front hinge. The maps show some tears and tape repairs, but are in surprisingly good condition. Please see my other history listings.
