Description: Original family ownership’s offering of a vintage, postwar American Flyer “Old Gold” Mini-Craft newsstand. The seller believes the newsstand was manufactured in the early 1950’s. One of the newspapers on the counter is the NY Daily News with the headline “Truman Seeks New War Powers” (see photograph no. 12). In 1951, President Truman sought broader executive powers from Congress in conducting the Korean War. The newsstand was part of a model train layout in seller’s family home during the 1950’s. It has been in storage for decades at the seller’s non-smoking homes. Specific description is as follows: · American Flyer “Old Gold” Mini-Craft Newsstand - CONDITION: VERY GOOD+. The newsstand’s structure is rigid and intact with no dents, cracks, or chips. Its green and yellow colors have remained clean and close to their original “factory” colors with no age toning. The front canopy has scruff marks measuring approximately 2 ½”. This may have been the section where there possibly was a “Newsstand” sign. There are scruff marks on the bottom base’s four (4) corners (photo no. 8). All thirteen (13) posted / hanging magazines and the two (2) “Old Gold” end posters are in excellent condition. Newsstand measures 5” length, 3” width and 2.5” height. Please note that there are no manufacturer’s identification markings on the newsstand. Please carefully review the fourteen (14) photographs to assist in your assessment of this vintage American Flyer newsstand. The photographs are an integral part of the condition and appearance of the newsstand, as described in this listing. Thank you for taking the time to review this post.
