Description: Offered is the antique book "Ramona", written by Helen Jackson and published in 1885 by Roberts Brothers in Boston. The novel about sheep ranching in Old California is a first edition, with a copyright date of just one year earlier. There is one black and white frontispiece illustration and a small black and white illustration on the last page but it appears that both have been pasted in. There is also a quote from the author pasted on to the first blank page. I don't know if this edition came with a dust jacket but if it did could these have been clipped from it? The book is approx. 7 1/4" x 5 1/4" and contains 490 pages. It is in good to very good condition. The green hard cover has little wear but the corners are slightly bent. The gold words on the spine are still partially shiny. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The white endpapers have browned but are otherwise mostly clean, with the author's pastedown quote on the first blank page, as mentioned. I see no missing or torn pages and all are well-attached to the binding. They have browned but they are generally clean and clear. A previous owner has used his customized stamp on the title page, as shown. I see no writing in the book. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them! Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
