RARE 1988 Fender Japan Stratocaster ST-362F HSS w Floyd Rose

Description: From the estate of a collector: This 1988 ST-362F is a rare bird, so odd that it’s not even listed by otherwise comprehensive Fender sites like FuzzFaced. Like a petrified set of cro-magnon bones, it appears to be a missing link between the Made-in-Japan “vintage series” inspired by 1962 Strats (1987’s ST-362), the earlier “contemporary” Strat series and the celebrated “Pro Feel” SuperStrat STR series issued from 1988 to 1995 with Floyd Rose- and Kahler-licensed locking tremolo systems. The “H” serial number dates it to 1988, the same year the Pro Feel series launched, but it largely appears to be based on the earlier ST-362. It’s equipped with an early Schaller-branded Floyd Rose system, as opposed to the later Fender “Ex-Trem” components. The two remaining stock pickups (neck and middle) appear to be the flat-pole ceramics listed in the ST-362 specs, while the bridge pickup has been replaced with a HotRail-style humbucker. The guitar plays beautifully up and down the neck with no intonation issues. The pickups, switches and hardware all operate as they should. There are some cosmetic issues commensurate with age and play wear which do not appear to affect playability or tone, including: * Nicks, scratches and dings on the body top, sides and pickguard * Light scratches and marks on the rear of body and tremolo plate * Finish cracks and scratches on the headstock * Light scratches and nicks on back of the neck * Light oxidation of the tremolo bridge and tuning machines Guitar comes with a good quality Road Runner hard case.
