Description: A 4 1/4 inch tall rectangular-shaped clear-glass antique NORTH YAKIMA WASHINGTON antique drug store bottle. This is the SUPER EARLY version of this bottle with the D.F.&D. (Dean, Foster & Dawley) glass company MAY 15 1888 Patent Date embossed on the base. Also the NORTH YAKIMA embossing assures it to be a pre-1918 bottle and the fact that it is an early hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it back into the late 1800's, is totally consistent with the embossed 1888 date on the base AND the NORTH Yakima designation. Bottle embossed: "ALLEN & CHAPMAN / DRUGGISTS / N. YAKIMA, WASH." And the base is embossed "PAT MAY 15th '88 / D.F.&D./M." Condition: Bottle is GOOD SOLID condition. It has patches of cloudy content stain and some traces of external age wear, including a glass fold on lip with an air pocket. Otherwise there isn't anything specifically wrong with it, NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. late 1800's. Shipping: FREE domestic shipping. We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time. Note that this is a NORTH Yakima bottle, embossed North Yakima, not just Yakima. Why are there some bottles embossed Yakima and others North Yakima? Here's what we found out. Yakima City was incorporated in 1883, but about a year later, a dispute between land owners and the Northern Pacific Railway Company led the railroad to establish a new town about 4 miles north of the original site. More than 100 buildings were moved by having horses pull them along atop rolling logs. The new town was called North Yakima and was officially incorporated in 1886. The Washington State Legislature officially renamed the city “Yakima” in 1918. So this kind of explains it. I do know that bottles and other items marked with the North Yakima designation are very good and that collectors look for bottles with this mark. All of this makes for a nicely collectable bottle, and this one here with the 1888 date is it at the top of the rarity list, check it out! Terms of Sale: Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.
