TAGLINE : "BIG FEATURE SENSATION! Amazing STRANGE WORLD ADVENTURES! From Alex Raymond's Famous Newspaper Strip" - ROCKET SHIP is the feature version of the serial of the same name and of the serial "Flash Gordon" (1936) / "Flash Gordon Space Soldiers". Reissued in 1950 on a double bill with "Mars Attacks the World' (1938). Flash Gordon, Dale Arden and Dr. Alexis Zarkov visit the planet Mongo to thwart the evil schemes of Emperor Ming the Merciless, who has set his planet on a collision course with Earth. The history of this re-release is very confusing! In 1938, Universal released the serial "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars". As was common, they also released a feature-length movie created from the serial. Universal originally chose to title this feature version "Rocket Ship", but after some marketing material was created, they changed it to "Mars Attacks the World" to capitalize on the Orson Welles "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast. When Filmcraft re-released the "Flash Gordon" feature in 1950, they used the title "Rocket Ship". At the same time, they also re-released "Mars Attacks the World" without changing the title. CAST includes Buster Crabbe, Jean Rogers, Charles Middleton, Priscilla Lawson, Frank Shannon, Jack 'Tiny' Lipson, Richard Alexander, James Pierce, Duke Ford Jr, Theodore Lorch.
