Like many vintage timepieces I own, it was purchased from a retiring watchmaker & reseller and remained in my collection, unworn for over 20+ years. Presented is an absolute superior condition example of a 1964 Hamilton Electric Nautilus 402 watch. The Nautilus model line usually offered a more traditional case design than its earlier wild Electric big brothers, yet the 35 mm cushion shape still holds an eye-catching wrist presence that screams, "1960s vintage!" Despite what the vintage east-to-west measurement size might indicate, cushion case shapes usually wear a bit bigger on the wrist. The yellow gold filled case is in superior condition. There are no distracting scratches, scuffs, or gouges on the top to report; the reverse side is just as clean. The crown is signed and original. Under the clear acrylic crystal is a clean, show-stopping matte brushed gold dial with case-matching gold hour indices and hands. And what can one say about that dial? It has to be among the most striking in Hamilton's catalog. The brushed finish allows it to shift from a deep, near bronze gold to a rich light gold. It looks alive from wrist movement! There is very little natural age noted for its 59 years. As an aside, I also own the solid gold older cousin version of the 405, the Nautilus 202, and being honest, I prefer this one. The movement within is a clean, heartier Caliber 505, running strong with a new, correct Swiss Made Renata battery. After observing it run for 48 hours, it is keeping shockingly good time with no issues. The movement has not seen an overhaul during my ownership. Attached to the watch head is a fantastic, original, textured gold filled Kreisler USA bracelet paired to the Nautilus 405 model by Hamilton's designers. Worth a large sum of dollars when sold on its own, it's all original and clean with tight links. It has 100% wrist wear life left. This example will make a collector very happy. Please note: The crown was pulled out to provide a constant time display for my photos. It seats properly when pushed to operating position.
