Description: 1st edition, early printing (likely 7th), with "383 Madison Avenue" on dust jacket. The jacket is price-clipped and has small chips on the spine ends and small tears along the edges. It comes enclosed in a new Brodart protective sleeve. There is a gift inscription on the front board dated 1953 (6th photo). Also shown in the photo is a book marker with inscription from the same person dated 2-2-53, which was attached to the rear board, and will be included with the book. Pages and binding are in very good condition, with no writing, tears, or creases. The front endpaper (7th photo, top) has a very small abrasion as from a sticker removal. Rear board (7th photo, middle) has faint abrasion from bookmark removal. Bottom of rear board has small bookstore sticker (7th photo, bottom). Reynal & Hitchcock on spine, title page and copyright page. Prince's cape on page 11 (10th photo) is light green. On page 27 rose is left-facing (11th photo). On page 63 (12th photo) there is no raven. There is no rear colophon. A very nice vintage copy, see photos for condition.
