Description: Per Wikipedia, Meat Is Murder is the second studio album by English rock band The Smits released on 11 February 1985 by Rough Trade Records. It became the band's only studio album to reach number one on the UK Albums charts, and stayed on the chart for 13 weeks. The album was an international success: it spent 11 weeks in the European Top Albums chart, peaking at number 29. It also reached number 110 on the US Billboard 200 in the United States. After theband's 1984 debut studio album, lead vocalist Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr produced the album themselves, assisted only by engineer Stephen Street. Officially, the record's production is credited to "The Smiths". The album's sleeve uses a 1967 photograph of an American Marine, Cpl. Michael Wynn, in Vietnam, though with the wording on his helmet changed from "Make War Not Love" to "Meat Is Murder". In 2003, Meat Is Murder was ranked number 295 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Ablums of All Time. The album was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The record up for bid is a first edition, February 11, 1985 release on the Sire/ Rough Trade Record label and manufactured by Specialty Records Corporation. It consists of 10 tracks with a run time of 39+ minutes. The cover is in EX condition with no detectable fault. The edges, corners and covers show no evidence of wear. The graphics and photos are in stark black and white and the covers retain their high gloss. The paper inner sleeve is original and is in VG condition with one small split seam. The sleeve contains a photo of the cover along with the band member’s names and some production information. The other side contains track listings along with lyrics. The recording has been cleaned, tested and recorded using Audacity. All tracks are free of skips and there is no background noise, even in the quiet spaces between tracks. The sound is crisp, clean and strong. The record surfaces are very clean with very few signs of wear. On appearance, this record has seen very few plays with glossy surfaces free of any scratches or scuffs. The recording and its outer coverings are of VG+/EX quality.
