Description: I normally sell these Burr Acorns in sets of four. When I'm dividing them out, if I come across one with an imperfection I set it aside. When I get a big enough group of "imperfect" ones.....I put them together and sell them at a discount. You will receive the exact 20 burr acorns you see in the picture. YOU probably won't even be sure what the "imperfection" is when looking at many of them. They've all been cleaned, buffed and sealed (to preserve them permanently) just like all the others I sell. The "imperfections" can range from a hole or crack........to me just not liking the way it "sits" in the cup......to maybe part of the glue showing through in the bottom of the cup....or me not liking the way the "fringe" growth on the sides looks....etc. And to be honest, some of them have no imperfections at all. THAT'S because even though I cull them out as having "imperfections"........when I group them together to take pictures of them I give them a final look-over and many times I find myself taking the extra time to "fix" them. But I still go ahead and include them in the set at the discount. The Burr Oak tree only produces acorns about every FOUR years. Perhaps that's because the acorns it produces are HUGE in comparison to all other acorns. I have two of them that I gather from (when they're producing). In order to prepare these acorns properly, I roast them in the oven for a short time and then allow them to dry naturally for many months. The shell has to dry COMPLETELY before I can work on them the way I need to. NO TWO ever look exactly alike by the time I get done with them. The variation in colors that you see are ALL natural. I've not used ANY colors or dyes on them. This is just mother nature doing her thing! I do take them apart and completely clean and buff the large nuts before trimming up the edges of the cup and then placing them back in. Just fyi YOU can take a pair of scissors and trim the "fringe" pieces more on the sides should you so choose.....it's really just a matter of preference) I glue them so that there will be NO movement. I then provide SEVERAL layers of clear coat. This ensures that they will never fade, chip, peel, mold etc. The finished product is just gorgeous. AND you can use them indoors OR out. Use them for bowl fillers, wreaths, accents, decorations, etc. The biggest one is 2 1/8" wide. The smallest one is 1 1/4" wide. The others are obviously in between those two sizes.
