Like many vintage timepieces I own, it was purchased from a retiring watchmaker & reseller and remained in my collection, unworn for over 20+ years. Presented is a terrific and unique example of a 1962 Hamilton Electric Nautilus 600. It was part of an Electric model line reflecting traditional Hamilton round case designs attracting more conservative buyers. Not everyone was inspired to buy a wild Ventura, Pacer, or Vega. The 34 mm case's 10K yellow rolled gold plated (RGP) composition is correct for the 600 Series, but this example has curved, extended lugs rather the cataloged, plain standard style. The watchmaker stated it's how the piece received, making it unique, and confirming my experience with Hamilton collecting. Depending on supply, Hamilton occasionally shipped watches that had alternate cases and/or hands, thus making them uncatalogued variants. It's in Mint condition, complete with the original case back factory matte finish. Under a clear and clean acrylic crystal is a superb, multi-textured, eggshell color dial with minimal natural age from storage. The hand set is superb, too. The crown is signed and original. The movement within is a clean, heartier Caliber 505 that sporadicly runs and needs attention, whether and adjustment or rebuild. It will not ship with a battery. Attached to the watch head is an excellent gold filled Florentine texture and polished JB Champion Florentine bracelet designed for the 600. It took me many years to acquire this collector-quality example. The expansion portion is strong with no loose or broken links. A couple links exhibit subtle gold wear. Bottom line: this unique Nautilus is premium addition to a collection. Movement: A clean, heartier Caliber 505 that sporadically runs and needs attention, whether an adjustment or rebuild.
