CATEGORY: Art & History TYPE: Continental Postcard (4” x 6”) DESCRIPTION: I believe this to be a painting by Peter Maltsev (1907-1993) showing Artek, a former Young Pioneer Camp (International children’s center) on the Black Sea in the town of Gurzuf on the Crimean Peninsula, near Ayu-Dag. It was established in 1925. The camp first hosted only 80 children but then grew rapidly. In 1969, the camp consisted of 150 buildings, including three medical facilities, school, the film studio Artekfilm, three swimming pools, a stadium with a seat capacity of 7,000, and playground. The artist, Peter T. Maltsev, was an active Russian Federation painter. CONDITION: Unused; never mailed. .. … Minor corner and edge wear. Light soiling and age tanning.
